Agbonlahor: Bruce will be crushed after 'awful' Wilson news with Newcastle v Leeds hours away
Steve Bruce will be extremely frustrated after it was reported Callum Wilson will not return to action for Newcastle United until the end of October.
That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and Premier League attacker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Wilson suffered yet another injury setback.
The Athletic reported on September 13 Newcastle could be without their star striker until after the October international break due to a quad muscle injury.
He has not featured since being forced off with the injury in the game against Southampton last month.
Bruce admitted at his media conference yesterday that Wilson would miss the Leeds match but did not put a timeframe on his potential return.
“He’s injured again? His injury record is awful,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I bet Steve Bruce is thinking ‘You get a goal out of him and then he’s injured for six weeks’. That’s so frustrating.
“Now you’re left with Dwight Gayle who’s not really done it in the Premier League. You’re left with Joelinto who is not a Premier League striker.
“Steve Bruce has got to get his team together and keep them fighting because it’s going to be very difficult to get results without him.
“But I would always back Steve Bruce to keep them up. He needed more help in the summer. It must be so frustrating for him.”
Wilson has scored 14 times in 31 games across all competitions for Newcastle but has missed 13 Premier League games since he joined last summer.
The England international, 29, is under contract until the summer of 2024.
