Agbonlahor tells Bielsa to recall Poveda as he digs at three 'poor' Leeds players
Gabby Agbonlahor has called on Marcelo Bielsa to give Ian Poveda a chance in the Leeds United first team.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed Raphinha, Helder Costa and Jack Harrison have been “poor” in recent weeks.
Poveda has not featured for Bielsa’s side since the middle of January after suffering an ankle injury.
The 21-year-old made his return to action last week for the Under-23s against Wolves and played a further 45 minutes in their victory over Newcastle United on Monday night.
He was named on the bench in Leeds’ last two Premier League games but Bielsa chose Costa to replace Harrison in the 0-0 draw with Chelsea.
The pair have shared duties on one wing while summer signing Raphinha has been a mainstay on the other flank.

Asked whether Harrison and Costa’s mixed performances mean Bielsa could look to change it against Fulham on Friday night, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes.
“They’ve been quite poor. Raphinha hasn’t been himself in the last couple of games and the rest of the wingers haven’t turned up.
“Harrison was brought off early again. It’s fair to give another player like Poveda a chance.
“I’m sure Bielsa will be quite fair with his squad and if a player isn’t performing he’ll make changes.”
Poveda has played 10 times in the Premier League this season but is yet to start a top-flight game.
He moved to Elland Road from Manchester City in January 2020 and now has 16 appearances for the Whites across all competitions under his belt.
