Alan Shearer and Tino Livramento react as Lewis Miley pens fresh Newcastle agreement
Alan Shearer and Tino Livramento have sent messages of support after Lewis Miley committed his long-term future to Newcastle United.
The midfielder, who missed the last three games of the season with a broken fibula, has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him tied down until 2032.
Breaking through in the 2023-24 season, Miley has emerged among Newcastle’s brightest prospects in recent years.
Injuries have been frequent of late, but the 20-year-old will hope a summer of recovery will see him come back stronger for next season.
Newcastle transfer chiefs are preparing for a season of change at St James’ Park, but there is no doubt about their desire to keep hold of Miley.

Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this month that Newcastle were closing in on a new contract for Miley, amid speculation linking him with a move away.
The midfielder’s previous contract was due to expire in 2029, with PSG and Bayern Munich reportedly among the clubs said to be interested.

Miley featured against the European champions in January, playing the full 90 minutes as Newcastle emerged from the Parc des Princes with a hard-fought 1-1 draw.
The 20-year-old played on the right of midfield that night, with his versatility just a facet of the excitement surrounding him.
Right-back, central-midfield, right-midfield, defensive-midfield – the England youth international has the intelligence to perform in any role, making him an incredibly valuable option to have.
Newcastle shared a video of Miley’s former academy teammates and coaches speaking about him after he signed his new contract on Monday.
Livramento commented on the video and wrote: “Congrats Lew”. Shearer was also in the comments, and wrote: “Great news”.
What Eddie Howe thinks of ‘incredible’ Miley
One moment this season spoke volumes of Miley’s pedigree, talent and experience already at such a young age.
As Newcastle saw out a victory against PSV in the Champions League in January, the 20-year-old pulled on the captain’s armband at St James’ Park – no doubt, a dream come true.
Speaking after the game, his manager, Eddie Howe, told TNT Sports: “An incredible player, an incredible talent. We knew he could play in different positions but this year it has really come to the fore.
“He’s done so well at right-back. Sometimes he has played at centre-half, he has taken every single position in his stride. He’s adding qualities all the time to his game, adding new things, but I think deep down you’ve got a really, really good technical footballer who’s a great athlete.
“He’s also a great person and a great character, so I think you put all those qualities together, I think you’ve got a great player.”
Miley is expected to return for pre-season, barring any complications in his recovery.
