Sandro Tonali exit latest
One of the big talking points at St James’ Park going into the summer transfer window will be Sandro Tonali’s future. Eddie Howe’s side look almost incapable of qualifying for European football next season and as Tonali won’t be going to the World Cup with Italy this summer, the Newcastle midfielder is going to be eyed up as a fresh option for top clubs either in the Premier League or elsewhere on the continent. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United are potential destinations for Tonali should he stay in England, with Newcastle reportedly seeking a £100million transfer fee. If he does go, Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has reported that Newcastle plan to sign several new midfielders with the money earned from this sale.
Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte looks like a top contender to replace Tonali. He’s struggling for regular game time at Old Trafford and Newcastle have a long-term interest in the Uruguay international. If Michael Carrick stays in charge at Man United past the end of this season – which is looking likely – there’s every chance that Ugarte could be heading to Tyneside.
Newcastle United expiring contracts June 2026
Newcastle may have some decisions to make this summer on players such as Tino Livramento and Tonali if high bids come in from their rivals.
But there are also calls to be made on those who are out of contract at the end of June, with Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar the most prominent names of those whose deals run out in the next few months.
