Aston Villa’s injury situation heading into the final weeks of the season looks a lot healthier than it did at the turn of the year. But Unai Emery is still contending with a few issues as the Villans gear up the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash with Bologna, a tie in which they lead 3-1 from the first leg. And a new fear developed prior to the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last weekend.

Jadon Sancho injury latest

Villa’s number one Emi Martinez was originally slated to start against Nottingham Forest but was a late withdrawal with the calf complaint that has troubled him at times this season. As such, Marco Bizot stepped into the breach at the last minute and put in a steady performance as the Villans played out a 1-1 draw. Martinez now only has a few days to prove his fitness ahead of the Bologna game.

Boubacar Kamara remains a long-term absentee with a knee injury, while young forward Alysson is unlikely to be involved until the end of the month. Jadon Sancho did not make the Forest trip after picking up a shoulder injury during a friendly defeat to Elche over the international break, but the winger is not far off coming back into contention.
