FOREST TRANSFER LATEST:
Anderson dilemma & transfer rumours
Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White transfer latest
Nottingham Forest’s transfer plans are in somewhat of a limbo as they battle to retain their Premier League status under Vitor Pereira. It means the Tricky Trees are really facing two scenarios when it comes to planning for the summer transfer window.
- Scenario A: Premier League survival. If Forest can manage to keep their heads above water then, naturally, the calibre of player they can focus on signing will be much higher. Who knows, if they win the Europa League then they might also have Champions League football to offer.
- Scenario B: Relegation to the Championship. While no fan really wants to consider the prospect, there is still a huge battle to avoid the drop. Being relegated to the second tier would mean they have to refocus their efforts.
The upshot is that, right now, most of the rumours regarding Forest and their transfer dealings are to do with outgoings. The likes of Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White have been linked with moves away, but the most prominent noise is around Elliot Anderson. The England ace is drawing attention from the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and former club Newcastle United ahead of the summer. Indeed, former Red Devils scout Mick Brown hinted that Man United could look to strike an £80m deal for Anderson.
Nottingham Forest rumour mill
While most of the talk has been about exits from the City Ground, the rumour mill over incomings continues to swirl and only ramp once we approach the summer.
Goals have been hard to come by this season, so it is little surprise striker rumours crop up regularly – with both Jonathan David and Santiago Castro reportedly on Forest’s radar. Southampton’s Shea Charles is also someone who’s been linked. Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has revealed that Nottingham Forest have been boosted in their bid to sign the Saints star as the South Coast club are willing to listen to offers in the summer.
Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney was said to be a target in the winter window for Forest. Boro are, of course, still in the hunt for promotion so any deal would be dependent on what league they are in. However, Football Insider expert Mick Brown revealed Forest are in the hunt to sign Hackney if they retain their top-flight status.
Nottingham Forest contract watch
As well as the potential for big-money sales, Forest have a few decisions to make in the summer with three players out of contract and Lorenzo Lucca approaching the end of his loan deal.
