Nottingham Forest: ‘This is how Evangelos Marinakis can get Man City to pay £100m for Elliot Anderson’
Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis could accept a £90million bid from Manchester City for Elliot Anderson.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Pep Guardiola looks to seal a deal for Anderson before he heads off to the World Cup.
Marinakis will take charge of negotiations for clubs wanting to sign Anderson, with the midfielder expected to leave the City Ground this summer.
Anderson could be a replacement for Bernardo Silva in Man City’s midfield, with the 31-year-old having already confirmed he will leave the Etihad at the end of the season.
Nottingham Forest could have a difficult summer window, with the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo also expected to be pursued by rival clubs in the market.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Marinakis could be taking a “risk” not accepting a £90m bid before the World Cup.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks it is “good” for Nottingham Forest that Marinakis is getting involved in transfer deals.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “With the World Cup coming up, I tip Elliot Anderson to be one of the stars of the World Cup for England, and his valuation will go up.
“This is where Marinakis has got to decide himself, and I think this is why he’s got involved. It is because he’s got to decide right now. He may take a price early, and there’s a lot of rumours Man City are going to go in at something like £90m and get it done early.
“Marinakis has got to be the one that takes that risk about deciding whether he takes that or whether he’s going to wait until after the World Cup and get to maybe £100m.
“Marinakis is a smart business guy, and I think he would take the £90m right now ahead of time, and that’s why he’s taking control, because he wants to be the one that weighs up the risk.
“He doesn’t want such an important decision to be in anybody else’s hands and I admire him for getting involved and doing that. I’ve often had to step in myself in the past, not as an owner, but as a chief executive, to take control for owners in terms of decisions being made when they haven’t felt able to do it or get it right.
“It’s good to see him involved, getting his hands into it. It will be a fascinating deal that will get done, and that Man City move may be the one that does it early for them.”
Nottingham Forest make more than £20m after Porto win
Football Insider revealed that Nottingham Forest secured an extra £3m in the Europa League after securing their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The Tricky Trees knocked Porto out of the competition at the quarter-final stage, and they will face Premier League rivals Aston Villa next for a place in the final in Istanbul.
Overall, the club have netted more than £20m in prize money thanks to their run in the competition, and that could rise further if they knock out Aston Villa.
The finances will help Nottingham Forest as they will receive less prize money from the Premier League this season due to their slide down the table.
