Martin O’Neill has had to expertly negotiate a busy Celtic injury list, which was compounded during the international break with the news that Julian Araujo had suffered a thigh injury. Originally there had been hope he would feature before the end of the season, but the Bournemouth loanee is now now expected to play again this season.

Crucially, star man Arne Engels returned off the bench for the crucial 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday, which is a huge boost as the Bhoys cling on in the Scottish Premiership title race. There was some concern over Callum McGregor, who went off in that tight victory, but O’Neill confirmed it was a precautionary move due to an issue in midweek. It looks like he could play for the rematch against St Mirren in the Scottish Cup semi-final on 19 April.

Kasper Schmeichel could be out for around a year as he requires two surgeries on a shoulder injury. The Dane even admitted it could mean the end of his career, with his Celtic contract expiring in the summer anyway. Long-term concerns persist at the back, where Cameron Carter-Vickers is likely out for the season with an Achilles problem, and while Alistair Johnston has suffered a minor setback in his hamstring recovery, he remains on track for a return once the Scottish Premiership split begins.
