Celtic have cemented their status as a financial powerhouse in British football, recording a club-record £143.6m annual revenue and a massive £45.7m pre-tax profit for 2024-25, courtesy of accounts published in September. Driven by reaching the Champions League knock-outs and a £31.5m boost in player trading gains, the Hoops have amassed a staggering £77.3m cash reserve, the highest in Scottish football history. However, February 2026 interim results indicate a 28.9 per cent revenue dip to £59.4m following the club’s drop into the Europa League, though a £67.4m bank balance ensures Martin O’Neill or his replacement as manager retains a dominant transfer budget for the 2026-27 season as the club navigates the new UEFA Squad Cost Ratio limits. However, one caveat to that is that Champions League qualification is no certainty, with the Bhoys finding themselves currently third in a three-way battle against Hearts and Rangers for the Scottish Premiership title.

It was revealed that Celtic spend only 52 per cent of revenue on player wages, which may go some way to explaining the hegemony in the Scottish Premiership this season with supporters growing frustrated at the seeming lack of ambition at boardroom level.
