Daniel Farke: What’s his Leeds United status?

Daniel Farke’s status as Leeds United manager is quite a curious tale. The German, of course, guided the Whites back to the Premier League at the second time of asking last season. But even that achievement did not stop rumours from gathering pace that the club’s hierarchy were looking to replace Farke in the dugout. While he managed to retain his position, talk of a replacement has never quite fully abated, and his future at Elland Road certainly feels directly linked to Leeds’ ability to retain their top-flight status. Even if he manages to do that, it does not feel 100 per cent that 49ers Enterprises won’t make a change.

However, Football Insider expert Pete O’Rourke said suggestions Leeds could replace Farke are “crazy”, and steering the Whites to the FA Cup semi-finals has certainly entrenched his status as head coach for now.

Who could replace Daniel Farke at Leeds United?

There are currently no active markets for the next Leeds United manager as Farke does not appear to be in any imminent danger of the sack, though that could certainly change if the Whites get dragged closer towards the relegation battle in the closing weeks.

That being said, Marco Rose is a man with close links to prominent Leeds sponsors Red Bull, and his name often crops up high in the markets. Former Leeds coach Carlos Corberan has often been linked with the top job at Elland Road too. Currently with his boyhood club Valencia, that wouldn’t feel an imminent option, but free agent Ange Postecoglou could enter the thinking. Kjetil Knutsen saw his Bodo/Glimt side impress in the Champions League, and as such might be unattainable as things stands.
