RANGERS TRANSFER NEWS:
49ers Deals In Progress, Ibrox Signings & Exit Updates
Rangers’ transfer approach depends on Champions League
Rangers are likely to have a couple of transfer plans that they’re looking at executing in the summer. The main one that everyone will want to see will be Andrew Cavengh and 49ers Enterprises using money made from qualifying for the Champions League to strengthen their squad. Winning the Scottish Premiership will no doubt have its perks financially and in terms of luring players to Ibrox, but finishing third and only getting into the Europa League will lead to Danny Rohl having a smaller transfer budget this summer. However, one way he can boost that budget would be by cashing in on high-value players like Premier League-linked Nicolas Raskin and in-form Youssef Chermiti.

Joel Piroe high on the agenda at Rangers
One player who could be an achievable signing for Rangers regardless of what European competition they’re playing in next season is Leeds striker Joel Piroe, thanks to the 49ers’ ownership of both the Gers and the Yorkshire club. According to former Aberdeen chief Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, this could be the summer where Rangers and Leeds really connect in the transfer window and a move to Ibrox for Piroe has potential.
More recently, it has been suggested Rangers could launch a move for Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt. The 23-year-old has impressed on loan at Hull City this season, but looks to have no future at Elland Road. Both clubs, of course, are owned by 49ers Enterprises – in Rangers’ case as part of a consortium with Cavenagh – so the Light Blues might look to use that to their advantage.
Nicolas Raskin Premier League links won’t go away
After an impressive performance in Rangers’ 6-3 win at Falkirk, Premier League clubs will have Raskin firmly in their sights ahead of the summer transfer window. The 25-year-old Belgian midfielder will be out of contract in two years’ time once the 2025-26 season concludes and he could be looking for a new challenge, especially if he ends this campaign as a Scottish Premiership champion. Tottenham are among the teams that have been interested in the Raskin, but they might not even be a Premier League club next term. Leeds are potentially ones to watch, yet again due to the 49ers influence.
Rangers contract watch
As well as incomings at Ibrox, there will be a keen eye on those who could depart Govan in the summer. The likes of Chermiti, Djeidi Gassama, and Raskin have all attracted reported attention from elsewhere during the last transfer window, and might once again be on the radar of clubs across Europe. But, of course, there are also those whose contracts are expiring and loans ending.
