Rangers ‘may be tempted’ to accept £25m Emmanuel Fernandez bid this summer
Rangers could be tempted into the sale of Emmanuel Fernandez if a club offers up to £25million for the defender this summer.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Rangers are set to put a hefty price tag on Fernandez to keep him at Ibrox.
Fernandez is being pursued by multiple Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Arsenal, following a strong debut season in Scotland.
The 24-year-old has developed into one of Danny Rohl’s most important players, after struggling to cement his place in the side under former boss Russell Martin.
Rangers have no plans to let Fernandez leave, and the club only have ambitions of strengthening their squad this summer, especially if they can qualify for the Champions League by winning the Scottish Premiership title.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Rangers could struggle to turn away big offers for Fernandez this summer.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Rohl’s transfer plans could benefit from selling Fernandez.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “They bought him in for about £3.5m from Peterborough. Now there’s talk of £20m to £25m.
“It’s very hard for Rangers to turn down that sort of level when you’re rebuilding a squad. As good as he is for them, they may be tempted at that sort of level because Danny Rohl will have plans.
“I don’t think Rohl will be keen to sell him. He’s been a very good performer for them and part of the success that he’s had. He’s obviously responding well to Rohl.
“Fernandez likes the way they’re playing, but it’s that sort of money, that sort of profit, that is going to be a lot for Rangers to turn down, particularly if they’re looking at rebuilding.”
Rangers could make profit on second star this summer
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rangers could also accept a big offer for Nico Raskin this summer.
Rangers do not wish to let the Belgian midfielder leave Ibrox, but, like Fernandez, it would be tough to reject the chance to boost their transfer kitty.
The Gers expect bids to arrive for Raskin, who could move to the Premier League amid interest from Tottenham, West Ham and Leeds United.
Rangers already have plans to sign a new midfielder this summer, with the club targeting young talent they can sell on for a profit in the future.
