Pep Guardiola’s effect on summer transfer window
After winning the Premier League title four times in a row between 2020-21 and 2023-24, there’s a possibility that Manchester City might go a third season without finishing top of the pile. They were knocked out of the Champions League before the quarter-finals and could finish the campaign with the Carabao Cup as their only piece of silverware unless they’re able to usurp current league leaders Arsenal and see out their FA Cup campaign with success. Still, even if they don’t manage a double or treble, Man City remain the hottest destination in English football and top players from across the world will be looking to head to the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s future is obviously something that could come up in discussions this summer, for players both linked with joining Man City and linked with leaving.

Bernardo Silva and Rodri futures in doubt
Rodri’s current Manchester City contract doesn’t expire until the end of next season. However, Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has exclusively reported in April that the Citizens are confident that the Spanish midfielder will sign a new deal soon and, therefore, snub a move to Real Madrid. Bernardo Silva’s future, however, is less certain. His contract expires this summer and while it’s yet to be confirmed if he’ll be leaving the Etihad or not, ex-Man City adviser Stefan Borson has told Football Insider that Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson is the number one target to replace him.
