Nottingham Forest ‘doing everything’ to keep Morgan Gibbs-White as big-money exit eyed

Nottingham Forest are prepared to do everything in their power to keep Morgan Gibbs-White at the City Ground this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old scored a hattrick as Vitor Pereira’s side recorded a 4-1 win against Burnley last time out and moved further away from the relegation zone.

His performances despite Forest’s lowly Premier League position and turbulent form this season are believed to have attracted interest from top clubs.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown warned Football Insider that there is big-money interest in Gibbs-White, but Forest remain determined not to lose him.

Evangelos Marinakis convinced the midfielder to snub a move to Spurs in favour of signing a new deal, and hope he will honour his contract ahead of a key window for Forest.

What is Nottingham Forest’s plan for Morgan Gibbs-White?

Football Insider previously revealed that Gibbs-White leaving Nottingham Forest could be inevitable if they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

However, recent results which have been spearheaded by the midfielder have moved them five points clear of the relegation zone with five games still to play.

Should they achieve safety come the end of the season, Forest are confident they will be able to keep their best players, and are working towards that end.

“Nottingham Forest are facing a battle to keep Gibbs-White,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s an all-action type of player, he can do the dirty work, the running, the tackling, but he also pops up at the other end with some important goals.

“I actually think he could score more given the positions he gets in, but against Burnley he scored a hattrick and he will want to build on that.

“So that type of player who can do a bit of everything will always attract interest from top clubs when you’re looking around the Premier League.

“Clubs are prepared to pay big money for a player who can do that type of thing, but from a Nottingham Forest point of view, they don’t want to let him go.

“He’s so important to everything positive they do there, and they’ll be doing everything in their power to make sure they keep hold of him.”

Which clubs are interested in signing Gibbs-White?

A number of Premier League rivals have been keeping a close eye on Nottingham Forest this season in case they were able to poach their best players.

Gibbs-White has attracted interest from a number of clubs including the likes of Aston Villa and Man United, despite his club’s reluctance to see him leave.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that Man City are keeping tabs on Gibbs-White and could make a move to lure him away from the City Ground.

There was a feeling earlier this season that an offer of around £70million could be enough to do a deal, but Forest could demand a higher price if they stay up.

Man City are also strong admirers of Elliot Anderson as they aim to bolster their midfield, and he is believed to rank higher on their list than Gibbs-White.
