Albian Ajeti set for Celtic transfer after Sky reveal - expert

Frank McAvennie has suggested Albian Ajeti could leave Celtic this summer as they look to offload players.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Ajeit isn’t Ange Postecoglou’s “cup of tea”.

The Bhoys’ manager told Sky Sports (8 July) that the 25-year-old’s future with the club remains uncertain.

Postecoglou said that the Swiss international has not expressed a desire to leave.

The striker joined Celtic from West Ham in 2020 for a fee of around £5million.

He penned a four-year-deal with the Parkhead club which is set to expire in 2024.

When asked for his assessment of the latest, McAvennie told Football Insider: “They really have to get someone out the door.

For me, boys like Ajeti. He might be a good goalscorer but he’s not the manager’s cup of tea.

I think the manager likes movement and he likes a lot of movement. He likes people to chase and that’s not Ajeti’s game.

“The last manager [Neil] Lennon didn’t really play him. This new manager has come in and it’s all about movement and everything that Ajeti’s not.

That’s no disrespect to Ajeti, because he can score goals, but they need to get players like that out.

The forward made 17 appearances for Celtic across all competitions last season, including four games in their Europa League campaign.

He scored three goals and provided one assist during that time.
