'Quality' - Ally McCoist blown away by Celtic summer signing
By Danny Wright
Rangers hero Ally McCoist has admitted that Celtic secured a “great signing” to see Patrick Roberts return to Parkhead on loan this season.
The Bhoys faithful were delighted to see Roberts, 20, sign on loan from Manchester City for the second time in his career in August having been a major part of helping them win the Scottish treble without a single defeat last term.
Ibrox legend McCoist has now put rivalries aside to wax lyrical about the England Under-20 international and thinks that it was a real coup for Brendan Rodgers to stop him from moving abroad.
“Paddy Roberts is a good signing, he’s a great signing,” said McCoist on BT Sport’s pre-match coverage of Bhoys’ clash with Hamilton on Friday night.
“He’s a real, real quality player. There were rumours of him going to Nice and not coming back to Celtic but the good news for Celtic is that he has come back – he’s real quality.”

Roberts was named to start for Celtic for the clash with Hamilton at the SuperSeal Stadium on Friday night.
He will be earning his second debut for the Hoops in a makeshift side that has left fans scratching their heads over the formation that Rodgers is deploying for the Premiership fixture.
During his previous 18-month loan spell at Celtic which ended at the end of last season, Roberts scored a stunning 17 goals and supplied 21 assists in 60 appearances across all competitions.
The Hoops can return to the top of the table with a victory against Hamilton on Friday.
