Former Arsenal star and current Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson says that Tottenham will be feeling confident after their Champions League win and will sweep West Brom aside on Saturday.
The Lilywhites welcome a currently managerless Baggies side to Wembley after beating Borussia Dortmund in Germany on Tuesday night, with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son scoring to secure the win after going into the half time break 1-0 down.
However their last league outing was not so positive, as they slipped to a bitterly disappointing 2-0 defeat to north London rivals Arsenal, which saw them slip down to fourth, behind Chelsea, and left them 11 points off table toppers Manchester City, who are yet to taste defeat this season.
Merson says the result against Dortmund was crucial to keeping their confidence in both Europe and domestic competitions, and is boldly expecting a comfortable victory for Mauricio Pochettino and his men.
Predicting a 3-0 win for Spurs, he wrote on the Sky Sports website: “It was a big result for Spurs in Dortmund. If they had lost, people may have been looking at it thinking: ‘Have they hit a brick wall?’ So fair play to them.
“They always seem to do this, lose a big game and then sneak a win somewhere.
“They didn’t turn up against Arsenal, and admittedly Dortmund aren’t the team they were, but they’ll be feeling great after coming back from a goal down.
“They’ll be miles too strong for West Brom.”
West Brom are without a full time manager after having sacked Tony Pulis following their 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in their last match, a result which left them just one point and one place above the relegation zone.
