'Andrea wants you' - Leeds fans react to Pep Clotet tweet

By Will Butcher

Leeds fans have urged Pep Clotet to return from his holiday in Italy on Twitter in order to become Garry Monk’s successor as manager.

The Yorkshire giants are without a man at the helm following ex-Swansea boss Monk’s shock decision to resign, after talks broke down over a new deal with owner Andrea Radrizzani.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Clotet told fans he was “Enjoying a few days in Italy” after a demanding season that saw Leeds miss out on the Championship play-offs by one place.

Sky Bet claim the 40-year-old is the second favourite to go from assistant manager to manager at Elland Road behind Aitor Karanka, after being Monk’s no.2 throughout the 2016-17 season.

The Barcelona-born coach has had spells as manager at La Liga reserve sides Malaga B and Espanyol B as well Swedish outfit Halmstad in 2011.

Leeds fans reacted to Clotet’s tweet by urging him to join the club as manager ahead of the 2017-18 season, despite his somewhat inexperienced CV.

Despite being managerless, Radrizzani has completed Leeds’ first signing of the summer by bringing speed machine Hadi Sacko to Elland Road on a permanent basis from Sporting Lisbon.
