Andrey Santos to be on red alert as Crystal Palace eye shock Liam Rosenior swoop

Andrey Santos is sure to be watching developments regarding Liam Rosenior’s future amid suggestions that Crystal Palace could move to make him their next manager.

The 41-year-old was sacked by Chelsea after their 3-0 defeat away at Brighton earlier this week, but he is already being linked with a swift return to Premier League management at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have been searching for their replacement for Oliver Glasner in recent months, and the likes of Thomas Frank and Robbie Keane have also been heavily touted for the position.

Rosenior is now a name that is emerging on their radar after his dismissal at Stamford Bridge, a move which is sure to have Santos on red alert.

The midfielder started 14 games in all competitions during Rosenior’s brief tenure, but had previously found regular league football hard to come by in the first half of the campaign.

Liam Rosenior may line up Andrey Santos swoop if he gets Crystal Palace job

Football Insider revealed on Saturday that Crystal Palace are “very interested” in Rosenior now that he is out of work once again, having previously been impressed when they met his Strasbourg side in the UEFA Conference League earlier in the season.

The Eagles’ hierarchy are big admirers of the former Derby County and Hull City boss, and could even potentially launch a move to try and make him their new boss ahead of next season.

News of the South Londoners’ interest in Rosenior is sure to have Santos paying close attention to his movements, due to the strong relationship that the pair have shared in recent years across their time together at Chelsea and Strasbourg.

The 21-year-old labelled his former boss as “amazing” during an interview back in November, and also suggested that their relationship was “perfect” according to SportsMole.

With that in mind, if Rosenior were to get the job at Selhurst Park in the coming months, it would be no surprise to see him make a return move to Stamford Bridge to snatch one of the players who he trusts the most.

Santos had started just five games in the Premier League this term prior to Rosenior’s arrival, and he will be aware that he needs more regular football in order to continue to develop.

As a result, he should be paying close attention to where Rosenior ends up, as it could potentially leave either a loan or a permanent transfer on the cards.

Frank Lampard could throw spanner at Santos move

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Palace’s interest in Frank Lampard is set to see Coventry City try to splash the cash in a bid to convince him to stay this summer.

Steve Parish and Co. are keen to try and prise the ex-Chelsea midfielder away from the Midlands outfit following their promotion to the Premier League, and that could throw a spanner in the works of any chance of a move for Santos.

Palace would surely only be able to launch a genuine move for the Brazilian if they had Rosenior at the helm, as the lure of a manager who trusts and gets the best out of him could prove pivotal.

However, if the capital club opt to take their managerial pursuit down a different route in the coming weeks, then Santos will surely be set to continue with Chelsea.
