Antonio Conte is 'throwing fuel on the fire' amid new Tottenham row - Mills
Antonio Conte is playing “mind games” with Mikel Arteta and it may give Tottenham the edge over Arsenal in the race to finish in the top-four, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender delivered his verdict after Tottenham beat Arsenal 3-0 on Thursday night (12 May) to go a point behind them with two games left to play.
Arteta blamed the defeat on the referee in an interview with Sky Sports after Spurs were awarded a penalty in the 22nd minute and Rob Holding was sent off just over 10 minutes later.
As quoted by football.london‘s Alasdair Gold, Conte needs to stop complaining and instead focus on his side.
“Conte is throwing fuel on the fire,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s trying to get that psychological edge perhaps with a bit of mind games. He’s trying to get in Arteta’s head and give them an extra edge towards the end of the season. He will do everything he possibly can to try and do that.

“Tottenham are still a point behind but they play first at the weekend so that gives them the opportunity to put pressure on Arsenal.
“I think it will be nip and tuck and there’s every chance that it will go down to the last game of the season. I would be very surprised if the race for fourth is now done and dusted.”
Tottenham have easier fixtures as they finish the season with a home game with Burnley and a trip to bottom-placed Norwich City.
Arsenal travel to Newcastle United before hosting Everton on the final day.
