Antony tipped to shine for Man United by expert after latest report - 'I've watched him closely'

Paul Robinson has tipped Ajax winger Antony to shine in the Premier League if signed by Man United this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one heaped praise on the 22-year-old after “watching him closely” while covering the Eredivisie this season.

Antony has starred for Ajax this season under incoming Man United manager Erik ten Hag.

According to Brazilian outlet UOL (17 May), Ajax have received concrete approaches from United, Liverpool and Newcastle in recent weeks regarding Antony.

The Brazil international is said to prefer a move to Old Trafford or Anfield.

His contract with Ajax runs until the end of June 2025.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if Antony would be a success in the Premier League, Robinson said: “Antony is a top player.

“He is strong, good on the ball and can cut in and shoot from distance. He can play down the middle as well but he is most effective off the left-hand side. A two-footed player who gets goals and assists.

“He has been a big part of what Ajax have achieved in the last 18 months. I have watched him closely covering the Eredivisie for a broadcaster.

“He is certainly a player who would flourish in the Premier League. He will not score 30 goals a season but he will contribute goals and assists. He is direct.

“If Ten Hag is to have a huge overhaul at Old Trafford Antony is the sort of player the fans would love. I think Antony would be a great addition.”
