Leeds United star Archie Gray is now on stand-by to undergo a medical with Tottenham in an astonishing turnaround, sources have told Football Insider

Gray completed a medical with Brentford yesterday after Leeds accepted a £40million bid including add-ons.

But sources say the 18-year-old has had a change of heart and is now in advanced talks to join Spurs in a deal that could be completed on Sunday.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Sunday morning Tottenham were plotting a sensational move to hijack Brentford’s deal for the teenager

Ange Postecoglou’s side have a longstanding interest in the England Under-21 international and are now in line to complete a deal for his signature.

Leeds are in financial strife and need to sell a player for a big fee ahead of Sunday’s accounting deadline.

Archie Gray could join Tottenham after Leeds financial issues

The versatile player, who spent most of his breakthrough campaign playing at right-back, has drawn the attention of several top clubs after impressing scouts with his performances.

Gray started in 47 of his 52 outings last season as Leeds just missed out on promotion back to the Premier League following their play-off final defeat against Southampton.

Brentford were in pole position to sign the teenager after he agreed terms with the club and underwent a medical, but Tottenham are now in advanced talks to secure his signature.

Gray only signed a new contract until 2028 back in January this year, but he is now expected to leave Elland Road.
