Arne Slot has ‘lost the Liverpool dressing room’ as Mohamed Salah bust-up takes twist

Arne Slot is at serious risk of having lost the support of his players at Liverpool after what has been a miserable season, sources have told Football Insider.

This comes after Mohamed Salah shared a message to his social media calling for change and insisting results and the style of play have got to change.

The Reds board have been keen to stick by their manager despite frustrations, but if the players’ support is called into question, they could be forced into a decision.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, multiple Liverpool stars are believed to share Salah’s views and criticisms of Slot.

Slot’s future is set to be reviewed at the end of the season before a decision is made about his future, and there is a growing chance Liverpool could look for a new manager.

Have the Liverpool dressing room turned on Arne Slot?

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider on 20 May that Slot has lost the Liverpool dressing room, with Salah the ringleader of a potential mutiny.

The number of players, both former and current stars, who have shared and liked Salah’s post since it was uploaded is set to be alarming for the manager.

Should the players have turned on him and if their frustrations are made clear, it may now be impossible for Slot to remain in his position beyond the end of the season.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It was a stinging criticism from Mohamed Salah in that Instagram post that he put out about Liverpool and Arne Slot.

“It’s obviously going to have increased pressure on increased scrutiny on Slot’s long-term future as well.

“Obviously the statement from Mohamed Salah won’t have helped him.

“Reading between the lines, with so many players commenting and liking makes you think, is Salah speaking for the dressing room? Is there dressing room unrest at Anfield?

“You would think there is with what’s going on there as well.

“He’s obviously lost faith with the fans and if he’s now lost the players as well it’s going to be very hard for him to turn around.”

What was Liverpool’s reaction to Salah’s message?

In the immediate aftermath of Salah’s explosive social media post, it was shared across social media, with large sections of the fanbase piling their weight behind it.

Many of the fans at Anfield have been left frustrated at the lack of progress made this season, and seeing a star player voice their grievances gathered support.

However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool were less than impressed with Salah and were unlikely to change their stance.

The board have been keen to back Slot in ongoing disagreements with the Egypt international, which started earlier this season over the winger’s playing time.

However, they may now struggle to stand by that stance with fans and players all turning on the manager as we approach the end of a frustrating season.
