Arsenal agree full-back trial ahead of potential January move - report

By Emma Sanders

Arsenal youngster Tyrell Robinson is on trial with Queens Park Rangers and could look to join them in January if successful, according to a report.

West London Sport claim the Gunners gave the green light for the 19-year-old to undergo a trial with the Championship outfit and he has been impressive so far during his stay.

Robinson has featured regularly for Arsenal’s development squad in recent seasons and he is in line to take the step up to first team action with a potential move to QPR.

The youngster can play in a number of positions, including left-back and right-back and has been deployed on either wing too.

As well as QPR, Robinson has already been on trial with West Brom earlier this season and is clearly attracting the attentions of a number of clubs in England.

Robinson appeared for the QPR under-23s side on Monday afternoon and scored in a 2-1 victory against Watford when he was playing on the left hand side of midfield.

The youngster has been learning his trade as a defender in recent months but he still has a lot of attacking intent and he notched up six goals for the youth teams last season from left-back.

He was a regular for the Gunners’ under-18s squad before breaking into Steve Gatting’s Under-23 sides and he has made three appearances, scoring one goal for them in the Premier League 2 during the 2016-17 campaign.

Football Insider verdict:

The youngster has shown great potential in the Arsenal academy and he will be keen to progress to first team football and QPR would be a great platform for him to achieve that. His ability to play in a number of roles is a huge advantage and could be a great asset for QPR in the Championship. It’s unlikely he’ll be given an opportunity in the Arsenal first team any time soon so it would be hard to pass off a move to QPR but the Gunners’ lack of defensive depth may force him to question the decision in regards to his long-term prospects.
