Kieran Maguire: Arsenal bulletproof as new details on 'crazy' scandal emerge in last 24 hours
The Arsenal brand will not suffer if one of their players is found guilty of breaching betting regulations.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the scandal involving an unnamed Gunners star.
The FA are analysing suspect betting patterns over a booking received by the player earlier this term, per The Athletic on Wednesday (19 January).
The same outlet reported yesterday (22 January) that a bookmaker flagged £310,000 worth of bets to the international betting watchdog.
Bookmakers are required by law to report instances in which their systems detect irregularities in betting patterns.
Maguire claims that Arsenal brand will not suffer any collateral damage if their mystery player is found to have broken the law.

“Cheating at a corporate level is going to damage the brand,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“But this is very much going to focus on the individual. For individuals who behave in such a manner, it’s crazy given how well they are paid.
“It will be used to goad the Arsenal fanbase on social media if true. But I don’t think it will impact on sponsors or potential future commercial partners.
“That will especially be true if the club is seen to address the matter with the appropriate level of discipline.“
The FA are aware of the controversial incident but have not yet launched a formal investigation.
Arsenal have not provided a comment on the matter.
