21-year-old Champs League assist wizard tops Arsenal wishlist, Wenger a 'huge admirer' - report
By Matt Bullin
Arsenal have identified Monaco winger Thomas Lemar as a top summer transfer target, according to a report.
The Mirror reports Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his side’s midfield options in the summer window and has been impressed by the 21-year-old this campaign.
Even with Lemar’s price tag reportedly at £25million+, Wenger has not been put off as he looks to buy big and extend his own future at the Emirates.
The 21-year-old was signed by Monaco in 2015 for just £3.4million from Caen, and since then he has become a regular in the starting XI.
It is said that Wenger is a “huge admirer” of the winger, and was keen even before the two-time France international signed for Leonardo Jardim’s side.

Lemar has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 31 Ligue 1 games this term, and he also impressed in this season’s Champions League with five assists and two goals in 12 games.
Football Insider verdict
Lemar has bags of potential and Wenger could be the man to make him into a superstar. He has been one of Monaco’s most exciting talents this season, only eclipsed by Kylian Mbappe. But the 21-year-old has already racked up 86 appearances in all competitions for Monaco too, so for his age he is vastly experienced. If Wenger is to stay on at the Emirates, Lemar is exactly the type of signing he should aim to make to give the supporters a signal of intent that he is ready to lead his club back to the summit of the Premier League.
