Arsenal fans look set to be disappointed as hopes of a big signing in January to strengthen their title charge appear to be fading.

The Gunners have been linked with several forward signings following Bukayo Saka’s injury and ongoing striker issues.

To add to their frustrations, both Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri, who have both filled in as Saka’s deputy, are also currently sidelined.

Arsenal have expressed interest in Alexander Isak, and many fans are vocal in their belief that he could be the player to lead the club to a Premier League title.

However, supporters are likely to be disappointed based on the lack of significant movement in the January transfer window. The club is set to follow a different strategy this month.

Arsenal don't want to spend big in January

Football Insider revealed that the club has made Newcastle star Isak their top priority for the summer window.

However, current issues persist, with Arsenal sitting six points behind Liverpool and facing an ongoing injury crisis.

Arsenal want to sign Alexander Isak.

Calls for a new forward have grown louder, but if the club does act, it will likely be for a short-term option.

The North London club are keen to make a deal if it carries "no significant financial implications or long-term commitment" [The Athletic].

This suggests that the club is unlikely to pursue a player like Isak or Nico Williams, who have both been linked.

The report states that the financial demands of a Williams deal are “daunting”, further highlighting the club's reluctance to spend heavily.

Instead, a loan move appears more probable, making it even less likely that a striker will be signed in January, as targets will be of a high fee.

Arteta's side are without Saka, Sterling, and Nwaneri for the coming weeks. It remains to be seen whether the club will sign anyone, but don't expect a move that will significantly impact the title race.

It appears their major business will be saved for the summer.
