Arsenal hit by crushing 'blow' after major Tottenham development changes everything - pundit
Arsenal are worried about Tottenham finishing ahead of them after appointing Antion Conte as their new manager.
That's according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking to Football Insider amid the Gunners' recent upturn in form.
Arsenal haven't lost since they went down 5-0 against Manchester City on 28 August.
They now sit sixth in the table and just three points off the Champions League places.
On Tuesday, Tottenham announced Antonio Conte would replace Nuno Espirito Santo.
Spurs have struggled this season and sit ninth in the table, however, McAvennie claims Arsenal will have renewed concerns about their local rivals.
"You have to give Arteta credit," McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
"The Premier League is a hard thing to succeed in. The board have done well in backing him and giving him some time.
"It's not done though if that makes sense. Yes, they are on a good run and they are playing some decent stuff.
"But with the players they have there, that should be expected. That's the minimum.
"They have to keep going and see where they are at the end of the season.
"There are a lot of good teams who are better than Arsenal who should finish ahead of them. They could miss Europe again, that could happen.
"They will be worried about Tottenham now they have Conte, that's a blow for them I can tell you that much."
Arsenal are next in action against Watford on Sunday.
They then travel to Liverpool after the international break.
