Arsenal tipped to sign £55m star Jovic after 'murmurs' from behind the scenes - pundit
Arsenal will sign “a top-class striker” next summer and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic is a name being “looked at”.
That is the view of former Highbury favourite Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Alexandre Lacazette’s impending exit from the Emirates.
Lacazette has won his place back in Mikel Arteta’s side but looks set to leave the club at the end of his contract next summer.
The French striker has started Arsenal’s last two Premier League fixtures after Arteta decided to play two up top.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be 33 next season, while the Gunners’ other strikers under long-term contracts – Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli – have just 14 senior goals between them.
When asked by Football Insider if Arsenal need to sign a senior centre-forward in 2022, Campbell said: “I think Arsenal will sign a top-class striker.

“We all know Lacazette’s contract situation and I truly believe Arsenal will not offer him the deal that he wants. He will want a long contract and I can’t see the club offering him one.
“At the top end of the pitch, Arsenal are old in football terms.
“I’ve heard murmurs that Luka Jovic is one of the names they’re looking at. He scored a lot of goals before he went to Madrid. Arsenal are looking at him.
“They need to sign a striker who is as good, if not better at that Lacazette role.”
Luka Jovic moved to Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2019 for a fee of £55m.
However, he has struggled for game time at the Bernabeu.
