Kieran Maguire makes bold Arsenal prediction after 'fascinating' De Bruyne reveal
Arsenal could soon negotiate player contracts according to stats and analytics -just as Kevin De Bruyne has at Man City.
That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively amid a reported revamp of the scouting department at the Emirates.
The Gunners are said to be moving towards a model that relies more on data than traditional talent-spotting methods.
De Bruyne employed a data analytics company to help negotiate his contract at the Eithad last month.
The Belgian penned an extension until 2025 which the Guardian reports will pocket him £250,000-a-week.
Maguire claims that we could see this model used more often in the future, especially at clubs like Arsenal who are moving towards data-led recruitment.

“I think it’s fascinating from the point of view of players like De Bruyne,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“So it’s certainly a logical thing to do, quantifying yourself in this way. If Brighton did this the players would be worth a fortune.
“In terms of players effectively being aware of themselves as brands, I think we could see more of this in the future too.
“Brand awareness and brand value is a tool when selling the Arsenal brand or being involved in any form of negotaitions.
“The players might feel this is a more beneficial thing to do than having an agent go in on their behalf.
“That way they have the knowledge that if you employ someone on an hourly rate, they aren’t taking 10 per cent of your wages for the next five years.
“So yes, I can see, this happening increasingly at places like Arsenal.”
