Arsenal make final decision on Leandro Trossard transfer

Arsenal have made a final decision on forward Leandro Trossard with the transfer window still open across Europe.

Trossard was handed an improved Arsenal deal back in August, which gave the Belgian a pay rise but no increase in his length of stay at Emirates Stadium.

The 30 year olds contract runs out in 2027, and Arsenal could have cashed in earlier this summer on Trossard amid interest from Bayern Munich and Premier League club’s.

Trossard has only played 38 minutes for Arsenal this season against Leeds, after being an unused substitute against Manchester United and Liverpool.

Arsenal plan to keep Leandro Trossard

As per Fabrizio Romano on X [6 September], a Trossard exit is not planned by Arsenal and they intend to keep the Belgian at the club.

This is despite Turkish club Besiktas showing interest in the forward, but Romano states “a move to Turkish Super Lig has no chance of happening now.”

Trossard also faces increased competition in attack at Arsenal following their summer transfer business.

Eberechi Eze joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace, whilst Noni Madueke left Chelsea to join the Gunners and add further depth to Arteta’s attacking options.

Leandro Trossard can still be key Arsenal player

Football Insider Verdict

Trossard has dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal due to the arrivals of Eze and Madueke, but the former Brighton star can still be a key player for Arteta.

Arteta wanted to add more depth to his squad in the transfer window, which he has done after injuries decimated Arsenal’s title charge last season.

Trossard is known to make an impact off the bench and is also versatile across the front line, making him a useful squad player.

With four competitions to compete in, Trossard will get opportunities to prove his worth, though selling the star could still be an option in January.

The left flank position is one currently up for grabs in the Arsenal side, with Gabriel Martinelli’s form a current concern.

Arteta will be hoping Eze can step into the role, with a potential debut against Nottingham Forest incoming.
