Arsenal have offered Celtic a choice of six rising stars plus £15million in exchange for Kieran Tierney, Football Insider can reveal.
The Glasgow giants have rejected the Gunners’ opening bid for the 22-year-old, which includes cash as well as the choice of fringe players including Eddie Nketiah, Carl Jenkinson, Ben Sheaf, Krystian Bielik, Jordi Osei-Tutu or Emile Smith Rowe.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club are holding out for a £20million-plus fee for Tierney, who is their prize asset and a star of their three consecutive treble campaigns.
Arsenal have set their sights on the Scotland international as they to secure one of the best young left-backs in Europe, who can also play in a more advanced wing-back role.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Celtic were braced for a mammoth bid from Arsenal for Tierney amid growing fears they could lose him this summer.
There is a concern that the Hoops academy product is seriously interested in a glamour move south of the border as he looks to match the stunning rise of fellow Scotland international and left-back Andy Robertson, who has just won the Champions League and played in his second consecutive final in Europe’s elite competition.
Celtic are well placed to secure a club-record fee for Tierney, as he signed a six-year contract in 2017 that still has four more years to run.
Arsenal’s finances have been restricted by their failure to secure a place in the Champions League for a third consecutive season, but they can still offer the Scottish champions an offer that will be almost impossible to knock back.
Tierney broke into the Celtic first team aged 17 and has already won five league titles among a remarkable 11 major trophies at his boyhood club, accumulating 170 senior appearances.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that one of the club’s Scottish players has agreed terms with club giants as he’s set for sensational transfer.
