Arsenal tipped to U-turn on Elneny after Sky update - Campbell
Kevin Campbell has tipped Arsenal to U-turn on Mohamed Elneny’s future in the new year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker claimed the club likely blocked the 29-year-old from exiting the Emirates this summer because of a lack of squad depth.
As reported by Sky Sports (September 7th), Elneny was the subject of a late-window loan bid from Galatasaray last week.
However, Arsenal rejected the offer despite the fact the Egypt international has only made one Premier League appearance this term.
Elneny could leave the north London club on a free in 2022, as his contract is set to expire at the end of this season.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the club may U-turn on their decision next year, Campbell said:

“I’m not surprised Arsenal kept hold of Elneny this summer because we are lacking in central midfield. We haven’t got enough players.
“Yes, Ainsley Maitland-Niles can play in there but they you have to think that Granit Xhaka is out for three games.
“There will be some rotation through the season because midfield is an are where suspensions and injuries have been frequent for Arsenal.
“We are not blessed with an abundance of top -quality options in that area. We could not afford to let a player like Elneny go.
“It is one they’ll probably revisit next year though. There’ll be more changes in terms of incomings and outgoings then.”
