Arsenal told to U-turn on Paulo Dybala after journalist's transfer update - Campbell

Kevin Campbell has told Arsenal to pull out of the race to sign Juventus forward Paulo Dybala in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said the club should go for a “younger, quicker and fitter” alternative to the 28-year-old.

Dybala is into the final two months of his contract in Turin.

As reported by Sky Sports (21 March), the Argentina international is set to leave Juventus at the end of his contract.

According to ESPN‘s James Olley (29 April), Mikel Arteta’s side have asked to be kept informed on Dybala’s situation ahead of potential summer move.

The Gunners are in the market for two strikers this summer with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah approaching the end of their contracts.

When asked if Dybala would be a welcome addition at the Emirates, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “No.

“I don’t think Arsenal can afford to take risks anymore. They have to get players in who are going to be fit and ready to go.

“If you are coming with an injury record, Arsenal isn’t the place to come. It seems that injury problems are always exposed at Arsenal.

“Injuries are part and parcel of the game but I think Arteta and Edu should go younger, quicker and fitter. Dybala isn’t the answer.”

Dybala has contributed 14 goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.

He has suffered a number of muscle problems this term.
