Kevin Campbell has tipped Arsenal to “gazump” Leicester City’s move for Odsonne Edouard this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners and Everton forward claimed his former club could blow the Foxes out of the water and make a “bigger offer” to Celtic.
The Daily Mail claim Leicester believe they have won the race to sign Edouard this summer for a fee in the region of £15million.
However, as quoted by the Daily Record, Hoops interim boss John Kennedy appeared to refute the report when he said £15million was “far too cheap”.
When asked whether he expected Arsenal to show interest in Edouard at £15million, Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs:
“Edouard knows Brendan Rodgers but let’s watch this space.
“If Arsenal are looking at him then they will gazump Leicester and make a bigger offer. Leicester have got a few quid, don’t get me wrong but if Arsenal are interested it’s a different story.
“If Mikel Arteta is interested in bringing the age of the forward line down by a few years then they have got to start battling for Edouard. They will have to put something down on the table for him.”
The French striker, who will have just 12 months left on his contract at Parkhead come June, has scored 20 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions this season.
He became Celtic’s record £9million signing in 2018 after an impressive season on loan from PSG.
