Declan Rice to land 'huge' Arsenal deal after £500,000-a-week agreement
Declan Rice is closing in on an agreement over a "huge" new contract at Arsenal as they aim to tie down his long-term future.
The 27-year-old could follow in the footsteps of Mikel Arteta, who put pen to paper on a new four-year deal earlier this week worth up to £25million per year - equivalent to £500,000-a-week - to extend his stay at the Emirates until 2030.
Bukayo Saka has also recently signed a new contract, believed to be worth in excess of £300,000 per week, and his England teammate is likely to agree to similar terms.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rice has "more than earned" a new contract at Arsenal and the club are determined to find an agreement.
With work ongoing in the background, and other Gunners stars also being tipped to land new deals, the club's current priority has become clear ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.
Arsenal are working hard to keep their best players at the club long-term, and are aiming to secure their position, while they will look to build around them in the market.
Will Declan Rice sign a new contract at Arsenal?
Work is ongoing behind the scenes to recognise Rice's value to Arsenal, after Football Insider reported he was in line to become the club captain, although Martin Odegaard stayed in that role.
Since his record-breaking £100million move to the Emirates in 2023, the midfielder has gone from strength to strength and become one of their most important players.
Rice's performances both for Arsenal and for England have established him as one of the best players in the world in his position, and the Gunners hope he will continue with them.
"It's no surprise Arsenal are working hard to keep Declan Rice at the club on a new contract," Brown told Football Insider.
"I'm not sure there were many doubts about his future anyway, and I expect these talks to be a formality, because it's clear he is loving his time at Arsenal.
"He's been absolutely fantastic for them, and continues to prove he is one of the best players in the country. He's made such an important difference since he went there.
"So it's a no-brainer really, for them to hand him a new contract on a huge wage increase, probably similar to what we saw with Saka earlier this year.
"That has clearly become a priority for Arsenal, getting all their assets tied down to new deals, because it was Saka, then Arteta, now Rice looks like he will sign as well.
"They're determined to keep everybody at the club long-term to continue their succeess, and then they can build around that core of players who they want to keep."
How much is Mikel Arteta earning on his new deal?
Rumours about Rice's contract situation have emerged in the wake of Arteta having penned a new deal, as the manager has extended his stay until 2030.
Work has been ongoing for a while to hand the boss a new contract after speculation about his future when he had just months left on his previous deal.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider last month that Arteta will be earning upwards of £10million when he pens a new deal at the Emirates.
With Pep Guardiola no longer in charge in the Premier League, Arteta is believed to be one of the highest-paid in the division, and potentially across Europe as well.
Following their Premier League victory last time out, the Gunners are keen to go again, and have been working to keep the key cogs in that machine at the club long-term.
