Arsenal to fund Emirates Stadium upgrade with '£500m' completed deal - Insider
Arsenal's new deal with Emirates could see them land as much as "£500million" from the latest extension to their partnership.
That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the airline continue to be a "quality" partner for the Gunners.
The North London outfit have extended their partnership with Emirates until 2033, with the new deal set to provide a sizeable increase to their previous terms of £45m-a-year.
Wyness made it clear that their sponsorship is vital to Arsenal amid the struggles felt by other Premier League clubs, and also noted that there is no risk of it falling foul of any rule changes in the coming years.
The ban on gambling companies as front-of-shirt sponsors has hit clubs hard in recent months, but Arsenal will have no fears of that moving forward.
Their new deal with Emirates encapsulates shirt sponsorship, training kit sponsorship, and an extension of their now iconic stadium naming rights deal.
Arsenal take step closer to Emirates Stadium upgrade
Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Arsenal's new deal will help fund their plans to make upgrades to the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners are plotting a redevelopment of their home to increase the capacity beyond the 70,000 mark, which would make it the biggest ground in London.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained why their new agreement with Emirates has seen them take a step closer to those plans being realised.
"It's very, very important for Arsenal to have done this deal and also get the increase that they have done. So full marks to the Arsenal commercial team for getting that across the line," he said.
"By my calculation, over the course of the deal it could be something like £500m that could be given from Emirates in terms of this. It's also about having a quality sponsor that does not have the risk of the betting or the alcohol situation.
"So this is one asset that they've obviously believed in long term. And what you find from the sponsor's point of view is that the value increases the longer that you are there because the name recognition cuts through again and again.
"From Arsenal's point of view, it's nothing but good; it'll help them also with the money required to go ahead and improve the Emirates as well, which I think there are plans to do.
"There's a great partnership there, and I think for both sides it's a really good working one, so yeah, full marks; that's the model to follow."
Arsenal told £60m Victor Osimhen offer will be accepted
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Arsenal will need to offer a £60m package to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen before the end of the transfer window.
The Gunners are being heavily linked with the Nigerian at the moment, but will need to part with a huge amount of money to make the deal a reality.
Osimhen is also understood to be earning a weekly wage of over £300,000 with the Turkish giants, making it a difficult deal for Arsenal to strike at the moment.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League several times in recent years, and it remains to be seen whether the Emirates could soon become his home.
