Galatasaray ‘doing everything they can’ to finalise Gabriel Martinelli deal

Galatasaray are pushing to sign Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli even though he is not interested in a move as it stands, sources have told Football Insider.

Martinelli's future at Arsenal is in doubt as they look to sign a new first-choice left winger before the window closes.

The Brazilian winger only scored once in 30 Premier League matches last season as he was mostly consigned to a place on the bench.

Galatasaray submitted a £43million bid for his services earlier this week, but reports have stated that he is not keen on moving to the Turkish Super Lig this summer.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, they will continue to work towards agreeing a deal with Arsenal despite that setback.

The Gunners have explored the conditions of a deal to sign Gala star Victor Osimhen during negotiations around a possible move for Martinelli.

The 25-year-old's influence on the Arsenal side has slowly waned despite their improved form as a team in the last few seasons.

Christos Tzolis' arrival and the likely signing of a new left winger is set to push him further down Arteta's pecking order for the coming campaign.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Galatasaray have shown interest in the Brazilian; talks have been held between both clubs as well, and it just remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed.

"I'm sure there'll be other clubs maybe monitoring the situation for Martinelli as well. They'll be doing everything they can to try and persuade Martinelli to make that move to Turkey.

“I'm sure the player maybe would be interested in a move to a bigger league rather than Galatasaray, but obviously they're a big club who can offer Champions League football as well.”

Aston Villa and Newcastle touted to make Martinelli move

Martinelli is clearly moving closer to leaving Arsenal even if Galatasaray is not his preferred destination.

Premier League clubs are those most likely to stump up the right fee for the Brazilian, with Arsenal set to accept a bid upwards of £42million.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Aston Villa and Newcastle could each make a move for Martinelli before the window closes.

They are in the tier of clubs expected to be interested in his services and may see him as a shrewd option to bolster their forward ranks.
