Noni Madueke: Two giants race to sign Arsenal star in January

Atletico Madrid and Juventus are both keen on signing Arsenal star Noni Madueke in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Madueke is attracting attention from abroad as he struggles for game time at the start of this campaign.

The 24-year-old has been left out of the England squad for the upcoming international break after falling down the attacking pecking order at Arsenal.

He has been handed just 23 minutes of action off the bench in the Premier League across their opening four games of the campaign so far.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Atletico and Juve are two of the overseas clubs keeping tabs on Madueke's situation ahead of January.

He is also likely to attract interest from Premier League sides if the Gunners look to offload him in the new year.

Madueke was impressive last season as he registered eight goals and three assists in 43 appearances to help Arsenal win the Premier League.

He scored his first goal of the season in midweek against Ipswich Town, but could continue to struggle for regular starts amid fierce attacking competition at the Emirates.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "If Arsenal open the door for Noni Madueke to potentially leave in January, I'm sure there'll be lot of clubs interested. There's been talk of interest in Madueke from Atletico Madrid and Juventus abroad.

"Nothing formal is going on as yet, I don't think, with Noni Madueke’s situation right now, but he won't be short of takers if he is available in January."

Reports have claimed that Arsenal midfielder Zubimendi is unhappy with his role in the squad as it stands.

The Spaniard has also failed to start any of their first four league games of the season, with just 59 minutes on the pitch from the bench so far.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Arsenal have no plans to cash in on Zubimendi in January despite his fury at being left out.

Mikel Arteta does not want to make major changes to his squad midway through the campaign as they push for another title.
