Arsenal to open Morgan Rogers bidding with first offer expected
Arsenal will try to test Aston Villa’s resolve over Morgan Rogers with “offers expected” in the coming weeks, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old winger has emerged as the Gunners’ “top transfer target” in recent weeks.
Villa have made it clear that the England international is not for sale, and that they will not welcome any bids as they prepare for their return to the Champions League.
However, Arsenal are ready to strike a deal for Rogers, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top stars.
Villa still have Rogers locked down to a contract until 2031, and the club is expected to demand over £100million if they are to reluctantly let him leave.
The winger is currently away with England for the 2026 World Cup and helped Villa win the Europa League last season.
How would Morgan Rogers transform Arsenal’s attack?
Despite the Gunners winning the Premier League last season, they had few star performers up top.
Viktor Gyokeres was the only player who netted double-figure goals in the Premier League for Arsenal at 14, while no one got more assists than six.
If Rogers were to go to Arsenal, he would no doubt provide a massive attacking boost to the club’s left flank.
Leandro Trossard was Arsenal’s main left winger last season, but he only netted six times in the Premier League and picked up six assists.
In comparison, Rogers netted 10 times and picked up six assists, and these stats could be improved upon further at Arsenal, considering he is in a better team.
What were Rogers’ stats last season in the Premier League?
According to Fotmob on 25 June, Rogers had plenty of eye-catching stats in the Premier League last season.
The winger boasted 0.27 goals, a 0.19 xG, 2.30 shots, 0.16 assists, a 0.12 xA, 1.29 chances created, 4,96 touches in the opposition box and 1.15 successful dribbles per 90 minutes.
At just 23 years old, these stats are highly impressive, and there is a good chance that they will be improved upon further in the 2026-27 campaign.
However, it remains to be seen if Rogers will be playing his football at Villa, Arsenal or elsewhere as the transfer saga surrounding the winger drags on.
