Arsenal's chances of signing Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha are growing increasingly slim, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners are big admirers of the 18-year-old and were heavily linked with a move for him during the recent summer window.

Ngumoha was also subject to interest from Bayern Munich, but it is understood that moves to either club do not "massively appeal" to the starlet.

Sources say that the wideman is "happy" at Liverpool, and hopes to continue to progress under Andoni Iraola's guidance in the coming years

The Reds have even been working on a new contract for the teenage prodigy, with his current deal due to expire in the summer of 2027.

Ngumoha burst onto the scene in the Premier League last season, and became Liverpool's youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted against Newcastle in August 2025.

Liverpool contract update bad news for Arsenal

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Liverpool are "confident" of tying Ngumoha down to a new contract in the coming months.

The Merseysiders have made it a top priority to secure the long-term future of their young talent, and there is now "optimism" on all sides that a deal is close.

Liverpool are hoping to extend Ngumoha's stay far beyond the current 2028 agreement.

That update is bad news for Arsenal, who are continuing to see their chances of snatching him away from Anfield becoming more and more distant.

With Ngumoha now a regular in senior England squads, his development pathway at Anfield is proving fruitful, and there is little chance of that changing.

Igor Matanovic: Update as Man United and Arsenal battle for deal

Arsenal in battle for Igor Matanovic deal

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Arsenal are one of several clubs who are paying close attention to the progress of Freiburg striker Igor Matanovic.

The 23-year-old has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga in the last 18 months, and is also attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.

Matanovic ended 2025-26 as Freiburg's leading goalscorer with 15 strikes to his name, and he already has three from just four league games this term.

The Croatian has quickly become one of German football's most feared frontmen, and that has attracted plenty of prying eyes from the Premier League.
