Bruno Guimaraes' 0.32 and 100% stats for Brazil show Arsenal his elite value
Arsenal will surely intensify their efforts to sign Bruno Guimaraes after his wonderful performance in Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Japan.
The Newcastle United midfielder was one of the star players of the match on Monday as the South American nation squeezed into the round of 16.
The 28-year-old played a fabulous ball to Gabriel Martinelli in added time, which allowed him to score the winner.
Arsenal have been heavily linked to Guimaraes in recent weeks, and saw a £55million offer rejected last week.
However, after his performance against Japan, a second bid is surely around the corner as they look to add a player of that quality to the squad.
Newcastle’s failure to secure European football has damaged their hopes of retaining their star players, with the likes of Anthony Gordon already departing St James’ Park.
Bruno Guimaraes the star of the show vs Japan
Many of Brazil’s main stars were having an off day against Japan, as they struggled to break down the East Asian side.
However, Guimaraes was one of the few to step up, and his assist to Martinelli was one of the passes of the tournament so far.
Therefore, with the midfielder already having good links to many of Arsenal’s players, it would make perfect sense for him to be Mikel Arteta’s top target this summer.
According to Fotmob on 29 June, many of his stats against Japan were also outstanding.
Overall, he created four chances, had four shots, had a 0.32 xA, completed 92 per cent of his passes and won all of his ground duels in what was a magical display.
Who else are Arsenal targeting this summer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Arsenal are expected to bid for Morgan Rogers this summer.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners this summer, despite Aston Villa’s claims that he is not for sale.
Villa still have Rogers locked down to a contract until 2031, and the club is expected to demand over £100million if they are to reluctantly let him leave.
However, it remains to be seen who Arsenal will sign this summer as they look to retain the Premier League title in the 2026-27 campaign.
