Newcastle to increase Lucas Bergvall offer after Bruno Guimaraes ‘update’ drops – verdict

Newcastle United will surely make an improved offer for Tottenham Hotspur ace Lucas Bergvall immediately as Bruno Guimaraes edges closer to leaving.

Reports emerged on 21 July that Arsenal have now opened direct transfer talks for the Magpies captain.

The midfielder is keen to move to the Gunners, who are willing to pay up to £60million for the midfielder.

As a result, a replacement is likely going to be needed, and Newcastle will surely test Spurs’ resolve with another bid for Bergvall.

The Magpies saw a £46m bid turned down by the North London club last week as they look to bring in a new midfielder.

However, with the extra cash they will receive if Guimaraes departs, a second bid for the Sweden international feels inevitable.

Despite Nottingham Forest’s interest in Bergvall, Newcastle are still the favourites to secure a deal.

Spurs are believed to be open to a sale for the right price, and the Magpies may be able to meet their expectations with additional income.

Therefore, if The Sun’s report is correct about Arsenal and Guimaraes, everything should fall into place for a potential second bid for Bergvall.

The 20-year-old has the potential to one day be just as good as their captain, and Newcastle may be willing to take this gamble.

However, it remains to be seen if the club go through with a second bid for the 20-year-old and if they are able to win the race to his signature.
