Sources: Arsenal ‘confident’ of finalising Jeremy Monga deal after offer submitted
Arsenal are “confident” that they can agree a deal with Leicester City to sign rising star Jeremy Monga, sources have told Football Insider.
This comes after Gunner’s £5million bid was rejected by the Foxes for the 16-year-old winger.
However, Arsenal are expected to go back in with an improved offer for Leicester’s upcoming star.
The two clubs are in discussions to try to thrash out a deal for Monga, as they hope to avoid going to a tribunal.
The youngster is also willing to make the move to the Premier League champions, boosting the Gunners’ hopes of completing a deal.
Football Insider revealed at the start of this week that Arsenal were closing in on a deal for the teen sensation.
Monga made 27 appearances in the Championship last season as Leicester fell into League One.
Who is Jeremy Monga?
Monga has emerged as one of Leicester City’s most promising young players.
The winger, who can play on both flanks, made his professional debut for the Foxes in April 2025 at the age of 15 years and 271 days, coming on against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
As a result, Monga became the second-youngest player to ever play in the Premier League, and went on to make seven appearances in the division as Leicester were relegated.
In the 2025-26 campaign, the youngster became the youngest-ever player to start for the Foxes in a 2-2 draw against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup.
Three days later, he scored his first professional goal against Preston North End and became the youngest-ever scorer in the Championship at 16 years and 37 days old.
How good is Monga?
Despite his age, and Leicester’s eventual relegation to League One, Monga had plenty of solid stats.
According to Fotmob on 25 June, the winger was averaging 0.10 goals, 0.20 assists, an 84.7 per cent passing accuracy, 2.54 successful dribbles and 1.95 fouls won in the Championship per 90 minutes.
Considering that Monga is only 16 years old, these stats are highly impressive.
Arsenal will be hoping to harness this ability and turn the youngster into a top Premier League star if he does complete the move to the Emirates.
However, it remains to be seen where Monga will be playing his football in the 2026-27 campaign as the transfer saga goes on.
