Arsenal have made it a "top priority" to hand new contracts to Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber once they have tied Declan Rice down to a new deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The latter is now understood to be in "advanced talks" with the Gunners' hierarchy to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The North London outfit recently handed a new deal to Mikel Arteta, and they have now turned their attention to rewarding the key figures in their title-winning squad.

Sources say that Odegaard and Timber are both in line for new deals once Rice's extension is finalised, with all three currently set to expire in 2028.

Arsenal want to build on the strong position that they have established at the top of the Premier League, and don't want to lose any of their key players.

Arteta's side are expected to make a genuine push for the title once again this term, as they have continued with largely the same group that took them to the top last time out.

Arsenal want to secure spine of their team

The spine of Arsenal's team was largely settled throughout their title victory last season, and Arteta is keen to build around them moving forward.

Odegaard and Rice both occupy key roles in the heart of the midfield, while Timber's versatility in the backline has also been crucial.

Rice and Timber both made at least 30 appearances in the league last term, while Odegaard was only stopped from reaching that mark by injuries.

Arsenal have no doubts over the importance that the trio carry to their project, and they are all some of their most reliable performers.

The Gunners are not satisfied with just their title win last term, and believe that their current group has the quality to take the next step and win the Champions League.

Long-term planning has arguably let the club down in the past, but they are now working hard to ensure that all of their best assets are protected.

Martin Odegaard has told Arsenal to sign Norwegian sensation who's 'going to be a top player'

Martin Odegaard driving Antonio Nusa move

Former Tottenham scout and Scandinavian football expert Bryan King told Football Insider on Monday that Odegaard will be recommending that Arsenal sign RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa in the coming windows.

The 21-year-old wideman already has seven goal contributions in seven games this term, and starred for Norway at the 2026 World Cup.

King first saw Nusa during his days as a long player at Stabaek in his homeland, and it adamant that he will go on to become an elite-level talent.

The ex-recruitment man feels that Odegaard will be doing all he can to endorse a move for Nusa, with Arsenal one of several Premier League clubs who have been linked with him of late.
