There is a "good possibility" of Aston Villa veteran Ashley Young signing a new contract at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the 37-year-old will sit down for talks with the Midlands giants when his contract expires at the end of the season - and the final decision over an extension could come down to him.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Young would be interested in extending his Villa Park stay - while manager Unai Emery sees the benefit of keeping him in the squad.

The versatile ace is the most senior figure in the dressing room at Villa and brings a wealth of experience to the club after a trophy-laden career.

Young has won titles in England and Italy and has amassed 416 appearances in the Premier League since making his top-flight debut in 2006.

This season, the 39-cap former England international has racked up 26 appearances across all competitions - scoring once.

The veteran, who turns 38 in July, has started each of Villa's last four games - all of which have ended in wins for Emery's side.

Speaking about a new deal for Young and quoted by BirminghamLive (17 April), Emery insisted he is "happy" with his contributions and claimed his age will not play a factor in the decision over his contract.
