Tottenham and Liverpool will have to pay Aston Villa £60million to land Ezri Konsa this summer as his value has rocketed since £12m arrival.
That is according to Villa Park legend Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after The Athletic revealed that the 23-year-old is “under consideration” by Gareth Southgate.
A separate report by The Athletic claims that the centre-back is on the radar of Tottenham and Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.
Only Manchester City (15) have conceded fewer goals than Villa (24), with Konsa a mainstay at the heart of their defence alongside Tyrone Mings.
Agbonlahor praised Villa’s recruitment and said that Konsa is one of a trio of defenders under Dean Smith’s stewardship who could make the Euros.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “He’s just got to keep doing what he’s doing. Keep clean sheets, it’s all about stats nowadays so keep the clean sheets coming.
“He’s got every chance because he’s been playing outstanding football. He’s comfortable with the ball, he can play out from the back and he’s got that pace which you need in international football.
“Konsa, Mings, Targett, all of them have got aspirations of playing for England. If they keep playing how they’re playing, anything’s possible.
“I’ve heard that he’s a good lad, he’s very confident in his ability. Great signing from Dean Smith. Every signing’s been perfect. He came from Brentford, didn’t cost a huge amount of money and now he’s probably worth five times that amount.”
Konsa is also eligible to play for European champions Portugal as well as DR Congo and Angola.
He began his career with Charlton Athletic, spending three seasons with the Addicks before moving to Brentford in 2018.
