Aston Villa are shaming Tottenham amid Ward-Prowse transfer update - pundit
Noel Whelan has claimed Aston Villa are putting Tottenham to shame as they line up a third signing of the summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Spurs were “falling short” in comparison to their Premier League rivals.
As revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday (June 16th), Villa chiefs want to make Southampton midfielder Ward-Prowse their third signing ahead of pre-season.
Villa kicked off their summer recruitment by breaking their transfer record for Emi Buendia.
They have also agreed to sign Ashley Young on a free transfer ahead of his exit from Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are still searching for a new manager after Jose Mourinho’s exit in April.

Whelan heralded Villa for getting their business done quickly and insisted Spurs need to follow suit.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Aston Villa, straight away, hitting the ground running. They’re not wasting any time.
“This is where Tottenham are falling short here. The majority of Premier League clubs already have plans in place. They have managers in place, players in place, players they’re looking.
“To get a successful team, you’ve got to put these jigsaw pieces in as quickly as possible. They’re getting it done before you know the pre-season.
“You do struggle to wonder what’s going to happen at Tottenham right now.”
Young has rejoined Villa 10 years after leaving the club for Manchester United.
He made 190 appearances over a four-year spell at Villa Park.
