Aston Villa bombshell: £12m-rated ace set to quit - report
By Amir Mir
Aston Villa have received a bombshell as Jordan Ayew is set to quit the club and join the Chinese Super League, according to a report.
The Sun claim Shanghai SIPG have registered interest in the 25-year-old as they plan to make a swoop for the £12-million rated striker.
Ayew is currently away on international duty with Ghana where he is set to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations which starts at the weekend.
It is said the versatile attacker, who had to take a huge pay cut after Villa’s relegation last season, would be tempted by the huge salaries in China as other Super League clubs show interest in the player.
Shanghai have already made big moves during this transfer window when they landed Chelsea playmaker Oscar for an Asian transfer record of £60 million.

However, it is said Villa will want a £10 million fee for their player, the same amount they paid for him when he made a summer move in 2015 from French side Lorient.
This season, Ayew has scored two goals in 21 games for the Midlands club and ten in 58 in all competitions.
Football Insider verdict:
Steve Bruce should cash in on Jordan Ayew who has failed to live up to any expectations since joining the club. After relegation last season, many expected the Ghana international to produce the goods in the Championship. However, he has failed to deliver and instead stalled Villa’s progression in attack due to his selfish play and inability to link up with his teammates. Not only that, the money which could be made from his sale could then be used to improve the squad as Villa aim to earn promotion back to the Premier League. The likes of Jack Grealish and Jonathan Koodjia can play on the left-hand side, if he is sold, or bringing in another addition to the squad would be much better.
