Aston Villa could still sign Ward-Prowse next week after development - Phillips
Kevin Phillips insists every player has a price after Aston Villa target James Ward-Prowse signed a new contract with Southampton.
The former Saints striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insder, reacted to the latest out of St Mary’s.
On 19 August, Southampton announced Ward-Prowse had signed a new long-term deal.
On 6 August, Football Insider revealed the Saints had rejected a £25million bid for Ward-Prowse from Villa.
It was also reported by The Telegraph on On 11 August that Tottenham and Villa were preparing fresh bids for the midfielder.
Ward-Prowse, 26, is a vital cog in the Southampton machine, scoring eight goals and chipping in with eight assists in the Premier League last season.

Phillips claims the midfielder will stay this summer but didn’t rule out some late transfer drama.
“He’s staying, of course he is,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I would be amazed if he left now. If anyone was serious about him then a decent bid would have arrived.
“It shows intent from Southampton, he loves the club. It’s probably the best deal Southampton have given to a player.
“He sounds happy and from the club’s point of view, to keep him is a massive boost. It sets their season up well.
“That being said, strange things happen in football so we can’t rule out a late bid.
“Money talks, if someone comes in with the right offer, you never know, he could move next week.”
Villa returned to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United.
Dean Smith’s side are next in action against Barrow on Tuesday evening.
